Author: Laura Howard

Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.
What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.
My review:
***I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***
‘The Forgotten Ones’ follows the story of Allison. Her mother is schizophrenic, and her father had left them. So, she distances herself from the world to take care of her mother and does not interact much with her friends.
This was a good book. It totally wasn’t what I was expecting. The plot was great, but the execution fell a little flat for me at times. But since this was the author’s debut book, and also the first in a series, I expect more from the second book.
The characters were what irked me the most at times. I wasn’t able to connect very well with Allison. Ethan was nice, but we didn’t see enough of him to know otherwise. Liam, honestly, was the character with whom I connected the least.
But, if I won’t be that harsh and rate it a bit liberally, I’ll give it a 3.5.
I’ll be reading the second book. But not soon. I have a little bit more expectations for the book.
